Workshop 1: Geothermal - Robust Baseload Generation

Saturday, August 27, 2022
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Workshop)
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Workshop Reception)

As the future grids are moving towards renewable technologies, especially with intermittent resources, there is a need of a renewable resource which can provide base load generation just like hydro and nuclear. Even though batteries have been proven to be capable to improve system reliability and flexibility response to intermittent resources, a mix of solar and storage only is cheaper when co-optimized with geothermal capacity expansion. Geothermal has been proven to be a reliable resource for generating electricity and its market is rapidly increasing.

This insightful seminar will cover the latest geothermal energy technologies, current trends, applications, and economics. The seminar will help participants to review, analyze, and evaluate opportunities of geothermal energy projects. The seminar will have a blend in working knowledge of integrating geothermal energy and existing resources on variety of levels, from small-scale use in commercial structures to large scale distribution.

Separate registration is required.

Workshop 2: Geothermal - Leveraging oil and gas experiences to accelerate conventional and unconventional geothermal exploration and development

Saturday, August 27, 2022
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Workshop)
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Workshop Reception
)

The oil and gas workforce has complimentary skill sets which can be used to accelerate exploring for and developing both conventional and unconventional geothermal resources. The skills and toolsets developed during the shale boom coupled with conventional oil and gas execution knowledge and experience can contribute to widening the depth and breath of the geothermal energy extraction impact as a complimentary resource to lower the carbon footprint .

This workshop will cover a wide range of topics focused on subsurface comparison of conventional, unconventional geothermal and oil and gas, through commercialization and policy. The format will be 60-minute topic focused segments that include discussion and audience interactions. This time is meant to stimulate discussion from all disciplines to continue to expose the synergies between the petroleum and geothermal industries from an individual contributor no matter the discipline to adding another lever for energy development.

Separate registration is required.

Workshop 3: Thermal Energy Networks: Decarbonizing Buildings at a Utility Scale

Saturday, August 27, 2022
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Workshop)
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Workshop Reception)

Thermal Energy Networks are utility-scale infrastructure projects that connect multiple buildings into a shared network with sources of thermal energy like geothermal boreholes, abondaoned mines and wells, surface water, and wastewater. Find out how the new laws & programs will make geothermal exchange available to heat and cool all homes and buildings..

Separate registration is required.
